Installation Note 50189: The SAS® Deployment Wizard might fail to load when you install SAS® 9.3 or SAS® 9.4 software
When you are installing SAS 9.3 or SAS 9.4 TS1M0, the SAS Deployment Wizard might fail to load. This problem might be related to the Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 (SSE2) instructions set, which must be present on your system when you install SAS 9.3. A required check of the SSE2 instructions can prevent the SAS Deployment Wizard from running properly.
To determine whether your problem is related to the SSE2 requirement check, review the symptoms described below.
Symptom 1
When you run setup.exe, the SAS Deployment Wizard begins to load, but you receive the following error (User system does not have SSE2 instructions):
Symptom 2
When you run setup.exe, the SAS Deployment Wizard begins to load, but it never progresses past the initial logo screen and it does not close. When you run sasdm.exe, the SAS® Deployment Manager does not load at all.
To verify that this symptom is related to the SSE2 instruction-set check, do the following:
- Open the Windows Task Manager.
- Click the Processes tab.
- Check for a running sse2check.exe process. If you see the sse2check.exe process, then the symptom is related to the SSE2 instructions requirement check. If you do not see the sse2check.exe process running, then this symptom is likely a result of a different cause.
Symptom 3
The SAS Deployment Wizard loads the logo screen, but then the screen disappears. In your SDW_date time.log, you might see only this:
